Champagne Forget-Chauvet are located in the Premier cru of Ludes on the Montagne de Reims. Generations ago Mr Forget had 4 sons and they all developed Champagne houses in Ludes and today the family name can be found all over the village with Jean Forget, Gaidoz Forget, Forget-Chemin et Fils and Bernard Chauvet et Fils.
The village of Ludes has the Premier crus of Chigny-les Roses, Rilly-la Montagne and Villers-Allerand to the west and the directly to the east, the Grand crus of Mailly-Champagne, Verzenay and Verzy. The production facility, cellars and a Gîte are in out-buildings next to the beautiful family Chateau that dates back to 1672.
Terroir
Champagne Forget-Chauvet own 10 hectares on northeast facing slopes outside Ludes on the Montagne de Reims. They grow Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay on the well-drained chalky soils.

Champagne Forget-Chavet make small quantities of Champagne, not all of the 7 cuvée they offer may be available from the cellar:
Brut
80% Pinot Noir and Meunier and 20% Chardonnay and aged for 3 years in the cellars. Quite a rich colour from the high percentage of red grapes, good mousse with plenty of finesse. Red fruit with a touch of nuts at the end. €15.10
Brut Selection
80% Pinot Noir and Meunier and 20% Chardonnay and aged for 5 years in the cellars. The taste is similar to the Brut Champagne but with a hint of butter. A hint of brioche and toast the Champagne definitely benefits from the extra 2 years of maturation. €16.65
Blanc de Blancs
Made from 100% Chardonnay. More pale in the glass with plenty of finesse and a lively mousse. Plenty of citrus notes with white flowers and a touch of chalk. Refreshing follow through. A good wine to pair with fish and shellfish. €16.35
Rosé
Blended with 20% Champagne red wine made from Pinot Noir.
Vibrant deep pink with plenty of red fruit including cherries. This would be good with foie gras. €18.25
Chateau de Ludes
33% Pinot Noir, 33% Meunier and 33% Chardonnay made from a selection of the best years. This cuvée is adorned with a pale gold color and fine bubbles. A more mature Champagne with citrus – lemon notes, there is a slight earthiness and roundness. €20.90
Le Flacon Celeste (Blanc de Noirs)
90% Pinot Noir and 10% Pinot Meunier. The ‘Flacon’ is only produced only in vintage years and has a limited bottling so it may not be available if you visit the Champagne House. Definite maturity with red fruit notes and Mirabelle. Mature aroma of liquorice with a touch of crystalized fruits. €30.60
CUVEE “FC”
This is an exceptional Champagne blended using 30% reserve wine from 1950 with zero dosage. Extremely limited production. €68.10
